The report "ALS in Latin America and the Caribbean"

We have compiled a comprehensive report from the Esteban Bullrich Foundation, analyzing the current situation of ALS in Latin America. This report examines the status of ALS in the public agenda of 18 countries in Latin America and part of the Caribbean, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. This analysis offers a detailed overview of the reality of ALS in the region to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities to improve the quality of life for those facing this disease.

Public Competition for ALS Social Research Projects with the National Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation

The ALS Social Research Contest was established to gain a comprehensive understanding of the experiences of ALS patients and identify their fundamental needs. Ten institutions focused on areas such as Family and Home, Health Coverage, Type of ALS, Organization and Care of Patients, Work and Psychological Situation, and Material of the Affective and Family Environment. This initiative aims to highlight important aspects for improving the quality of life for individuals with ALS and their families.

Identification of Metabolic Syndrome Risk Factors in ALS Patients Project

The goal of this project was to identify risk indicators of Metabolic Syndrome in ALS patients. A survey was conducted on 47 ALS patients who exhibited three or more metabolic alterations, including central distribution obesity, decreased HDL cholesterol, increased triglycerides, elevated blood pressure, and hyperglycemia. Timely identification allows for preventive and therapeutic interventions to reduce metabolic complications in ALS patients.
